Is Intelligent Belief Really Beyond Logic?

چکیده

"Impossibility, theorems" have recently appeared in the AI literature which have been interpreted as forbidding truth-functional uncertainty calculi. Such "logicist" calculi do in fact exist. For example, case-based reasoning principles entail a truth-functional probabilityagreeing scheme whose strengths and weaknesses are not so different from those of the usual belief representation methods. No claim is made that belief modeling should be conducted exclusively along Iogicist lines, but a nontrivial common ground of intuition does exist beneath Iogicism and its alternatives.

Chapter 2 : Either / Or Logic and Beyond

Most people perceive and interpret reality in terms of either/or: someone is either good or bad, friendly or unfriendly, intelligent or stupid, loving or unloving—and the list could be continued indefinitely, not only for qualities of people but also for anything else. Thus, reality is perceived in terms of mutually exclusive opposites. But is reality really like that? Or is this opposition our...

Logic, Knowledge Representation, and Bayesian Decision Theory

In this paper I give a brief overview of recent work on uncertainty inAI, and relate it to logical representations. Bayesian decision theory and logic are both normative frameworks for reasoning that emphasize different aspects of intelligent reasoning. Belief networks (Bayesian networks) are representations of independence that form the basis for understanding much of the recent work on reason...

Belief revision with reinforcement learning for interactive object recognition

From a conceptual point of view, belief revision and learning are quite similar. Both methods change the belief state of an intelligent agent by processing incoming information. However, for learning, the focus in on the exploitation of data to extract and assimilate useful knowledge, whereas belief revision is more concerned with the adaption of prior beliefs to new information for the purpose...

Designing an Intelligent Intrusion Detection System in the Electronic Banking Industry Using Fuzzy Logic

One of the most important obstacles to using Internet banking is the lack of Stability of transactions and some misuse in the course of transactions it is financial. That is why preventing unauthorized access Crime detection is one of the major issues in financial institutions and banks. In this article, a system of intelligence has been designed that recognizes Suspicious and unusual behaviors...

First-Order Logical Filtering

Logical filtering is the process of updating a belief state (set of possible world states) after a sequence of executed actions and perceived observations. In general, it is intractable in dynamic domains that include many objects and relationships. Still, potential applications for such domains (e.g., semantic web, autonomous agents, and partial-knowledge games) encourage research beyond immed...
